Kharkov is eager to host Euro-2012 instead of Lvov

At the International conference dedicated to Euro-2012, chairman of Verkhovna Rada Committee on family, youth and sports Affairs Pavel Kostenko underlined that Kharkov is ready to host Euro-2012, according to Oleg Matsekh, chairman of Coordinating Board for Lvov Public Forum and conference participant.

In particular in his report Pavel Kostenko mentioned that Kharkov is ready for Euro-2012. He claims that roads, subway, airport and the stadium are at the highest level.

On his part vice-President of Ukraine-Poland association Jacob Pogrebnyak noted all Ukrainian cities are in good condition concerning their preparation for Euro-2012, except for Lvov. The chairman of Euro-2012 Executive Committee in Poland Adam Olkowich said Poland wouldn’t like Lvov to lose its chance for hosting Euro-2012. That was Poland to make all the efforts for Lvov to become possible host-city for Football Championship matches.

On November, 26 in Kiev was held “Role of government and public associations in Euro-2012 organization” International conference, one of its organizers was the Embassy of Republic of Poland in Ukraine.

About 200 participants were involved in this event. At the conference was discussed the level of Ukraine and Poland’s readiness for Euro-2012.

UEFA expects building airports for Euro-2012

As informed vice Prime Minister Ivan Vasyunik, UEFA expects construction works in the airports hosting Europe Football Championship final 2012 will start before May, 2009.

During the meeting of I. Vasyunik and Football Federation President Grigory Surkis with UEFA reps, its experts stated UEFA is planning to create rating list of all the airports participating in Euro-2012 in Ukraine and Poland in order to take final decision on the Championship host-cities.

In his turn Mr. Vasyunik informed the experts that Government has met its engagements as to financial support of airports’ reconstruction this year. He promised that Cabinet of Ministers will keep to its financial obligations on airports’ reconstruction regardless of financial crisis.

Cabinet of Ministers has also set responsibility areas between State and business.

Mr. Vasyunik forecasted in December will be defined private partners who’re going to construct terminals in Donetsk and Odessa.

Mayor of Lvov is satisfied with city’s preparation for Euro-2012

Andrey Sadovoy, mayor of Lvov, told about city’s preparation for hosting Europe Championship 2012.

“Lvov is the host-city of Euro-2012. As to our readiness stage, we meet all the terms, agreed with the UEFA in a high quality level, and we work honestly” - claimed Mr. Sadovoy.

Mentioning stadium construction, the main goal set before the city within the framework of Euro-2012 organization, the mayor expressed his satisfaction as to cooperation with its general contractor Design Building Enterprise of Azovintex JSC. As states Mr. Sadovoy, construction works will be carried out in three shifts 24 hours a day for the guarantees given to the UEFA must be satisfied.

Mr. Sadovoy also added Azovintex is planning to use around 200 units of engineering equipment at the building site. He’s convinced by December 2010 new sports arena will be ready.

One more achievement as considers the chairman is finish of the contest on defining the emblem of Lvov-2012. Next week voting results will be summed up and official emblem of Euro-2012 city chosen.

The stadium will cost to Lvov 609 mln hryvnyas

For Euro-2012 in Lvov is going to be built stadium for 33.000 seats, total cost of which makes 609 mln hryvnyas.

According to the city mayor Andrey Sadovoy, building works start on November 11, 2009 and will approximately finish in December, 2010. The object is being built from municipal budget fund. The city also attracts investors to adjacent sites (those over 100 hectares).

Besides, Lvov is constructing 4 training grounds. These are “Ukraine” stadium (investment amount for infrastructure development makes 40.1 mln hryvnyas), “Yunost” stadium (17.5 mln hrn), “Sokol” stadium (30 mln hrn), “Skif” stadium (20 mln hrn from the State budget, plus 2 mln hrn in 2008).

“According to work schedule all the stadiums have to be erected by 2011″ - told Mr. Sadovoy.

Earlier it was stated that Andrey Sadovoy, mayor of Lvov city informed about preparation process in the city for hosting Europe Championship 2012.

Euro-2012 organization will cost to Kiev 51.5 bln hryvnyas

Organization of Europe Football Championship 2012 in Kiev will cost above 51.5 bln hryvnyas in total, as informed Anatoly Golubchenko, senior deputy chairman for Kiev municipal State Administration.

“According to the program it’s previewed 51 bln 549 mln and 530.000 hryvnyas, plus 6 bln 273 mln hryvnyas in 2008 to finance set goals and events for organization and hosting Europe Football Championship final 2012 in Kiev” - stated Mr. Golubchenko.

State budget funds make 3.368 bln hryvnyas, and 24.702 bln from capital budget, 23.478 bln hryvnyas - from other sources (investment and funds attracted).

Mr. Golubchenko highlighted that this year programs’ financing from State and local budgets runs smoothly and in full stroke. On November 1 out of allocated 2.9 bln hryvnyas 2.059 bln hryvnyas has already been put in operation.
