UEFA announced registration for purchasing media rights to broadcast Europe Football Championship 2012 matches which will be held in Ukraine and Poland.

The companies interested in winning the rights can send their applications till January 20^th, 2009. Additional information on the bids process will be provided for them later, informs RAR.

UEFA’s convicted when media rights for Euro-2012 are sold it can gain as much as it gained for the Championship hosted by Austria and Switzerland.

“We’re sure like it was with successful Championship in 2008, the next one will bring at least similar profit” - says UEFA press-secretary Rob Faukler.

UEFA’s planning to sell media rights for Euro-2012 to the most appealing European countries such as France, Germany, Italy, Spain or Great Britain.

UEFA made profit of EUR 250 mln for the last Championship. Total turnover reached EUR 1.3 bln, 750 mln of which was gained through selling rights for broadcasting matches on the TV, Internet and mobile phones.

As states Mr. Faukler, Europe Football Championship ranks third in the world after World Cup and Summer Olympic Games for the number of sport events’ spectators.

Speaking at the round table meeting for Euro-2012 on December, 22 President of Football Federation of Ukraine Grigory Surkis stated it won’t be a tragedy for the UEFA if Ukraine prepares only two cities for Euro-2012.

Mr. Surkis described criteria which will help choosing two Ukrainian cities for hosting Euro-2012: “Kiev is definitely one of them, and also one more city best of all prepared by that time”.

Grigory Surkis highlighted that to his opinion in May 2009 at the meeting of UEFA Executive Committee where the final verdict is to be made, 4*4 formula will be adopted. According to the formula, 4 Ukrainian and 4 Polish host-cities are to be defined.

“We’ve come to agreement with our counterparts not to do any lobbying actions in order to obtain more of the Championship” - claimed FFU President.

At the same time he didn’t exclude possibility that in case if all the six Ukrainian host-cities including 2 in backup are ready even better than expected by May, 2009 than UEFA may adopt resolution according to which the Championship will be held in 6 Ukrainian and 2 Polish cities.

Earlier at the meeting of Coordinating Council for Euro-2012 organization, President of Ukraine Viktor Yuschenko stated Ukraine can host Euro-2012 in two or three cities instead of four.

For Olimpiyskiy NSC reconstruction has already been spent 300 mln hryvnyas in 2008, informs Rostislav Karandeyev, deputy Minister for Family, Youth and Sport.

“At the moment we have no any liabilities for the job financing” - claimed deputy Minister having noted that now the contractor carries out their work according to the schedule approved of the Cabinet of Ministers.

Mr. Karandeyev informed that reconstruction of Olimpiyskiy NSC won’t feel the effect of Cabinet’s anti-crisis regulation which bans advance financing from the State budget.

Roman Karandeyev claimed that the draft of National Budget 2009 doesn’t preview financing of Olimpiyskiy reconstruction. All the funds necessary for the mentioned goals at the amount of 800 mln hryvnyas are planned to be allocated from the stabilisation fund.

“Nevertheless we’re hoping such point will emerge in the National Budget draft” - says deputy Minister.

On December, 18 Central Office for organization and hosting Europe Football Championship final 2012 was created in Kiev.

The project was introduced for today’s session by Kiev Municipal chairman deputy and secretary of Kiev Council Oles Dovgy. 95 of 115 Kiev Council deputies present in the hall voted for its creation.

Mr. Dovgy has underlined the issue is urgent and of great importance. Besides, creating Central Office doesn’t preview increasing of Kiev State Municipal Administration staff so as a result, Office has no need in additional budget financing.

In the process of project discussion secretary of Kiev Council standing commission for Family, Youth and Sport Viktor Grinyuk appealed to deputies to support the resolution in spite of the fact that corresponding agreement of the draft is lacking,  and to consider significance of the issue.

Today’s resolution of the deputies declares as expired resolution to create Agency for organization and hosting Euro-2012 which is part of Central Board for Physical Training and Sport of Kiev Municipal State Administration.

After resolution has been adopted senior chief deputy for Kiev Municipal State Administration Yevgeny Chervonenko informed that he nominated Yevgeny Vilinsky, ex-senior chief deputy of National Agency for Euro-2012 organization, liquidated by Cabinet of Ministers, for the post of the chairman for newly created Central Board.

Earlier it was stated that ex-chief of National Agency for organization and hosting Euro-2012 Yevgeny Chervonenko has been nominated as senior chief deputy of Kiev Municipal State Administration.

 UEFA has announced of its contest for the right to cover Euro-2012 mapped for the beginning of next year.

During the contest Europe will be divided in several major sectors which are going to be considered separately. Those agencies and broadcasting companies desiring to acquire rights to cover the Championship can already begin filling their applications.

Similar to UEFA club tournaments, in particular Champion League and Europe League, rights for Euro-2012 coverage will be sold at the neutral basis. This will provide more flexible technological approach and chance to make coverage from various stages.

Earlier it was mentioned that at the meeting of UEFA Supervisory Board for Euro-2012 UEFA reps claimed they don’t discredit ability of Poland and Ukraine to successfully organize Europe Football Championship 2012.
