Donetsk, Euro-2012. Part 2

Well, Donetsk has minimum risk to be denied in hosting Euro-2012 comparing with other cities applicants to host Europe Football Championship 2012, claims Vladimir Logvinenko, chairman of Donetsk Regional and State Administration, at the press conference held in Donetsk on Wednesday.

Any affair is risky including our project, which is also risk-taking. Anyway, everything that we’ve created during these years and the experience gained reaches by my estimates the lowest risk among all the host-cities, highlights Mr. Logvinenko.

According to V. Logvinenko the region has two obstacles, which lead to falling behind in organization of Euro-2012. These are hotels and the airport, the last still having no investor for updating airport facility.

Meanwhile the governor underlined that the lack of sufficient amount of hotel suites in Donetsk is solved thanks to other cities like Maryupol, Makeyevka, Gorlovka and so on.

Besides, there’s agreement signed with Zaporozhye region to assist with fans and tourists’ accommodation in five and four-star hotels.

On May 8th UEFA’s going to define four cities in Ukraine to host Europe Football Championship final 2012.

Earlier it was reported that Donetsk is provided with only 6 % of five-star and 20 % of four-star suites of the amount satisfying to UEFA standards.

Donetsk, Euro-2012. Part 1

Polish mass media claim that Michel Platini plots awakener for Ukraine. Donetsk, Kharkov and Dnepropetrovsk are denied to hold Europe Football Championship final 2012, as announced STB channel with reference to Polish mass media.

According to STB, information’s spread in football world that 4 Ukrainian cities are spending in vain their money for Euro-2012. Even though official decision on host-cities of Euro-2012 has to be made public on May 13th in Bucharest at the UEFA session, allegedly it’s already been decided on.

Out of 6 Ukrainian cities only 2 will host Europe Championship. Polish mass media reports that UEFA’s made decision to deny Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkov and Donetsk. Kiev and Odessa are left in the list and Lvov’s up in the air yet. This means Michel Platini doesn’t believe that within the next three years highways will be built connecting Ukrainian cities, railway will start functioning and as a result fans will want to go to the Eastern Ukraine, that is Kharkov, Dnepropetrovsk and Donetsk.

As to Kiev and Odessa, these cities have no problems with the hotels and have perfect traffic connection.
