Donetsk, EURO 2012 host-city, is a newsmaker of the last week.
Somebody Will Be Definitely Beaten
Despite that serious measures are taken in order to prevent the violation and hooliganism at football stands during the tournament matches, the one of four Ukrainian stadiums will definitely will host a fight. Fortunately, it will be held within boxing bout!
As it was informed previously in the mass media, world famous boxers Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko are interested in organizing the one of the upcoming boxing fights at the reconstructed (or almost newly built) National Sports Complex “Olympic” in Kiev. Also they discussed the possibility of the bout, so much desired by fans, Vitali Klitschko vs. Nikolai Valuev.
And it was ‘Donbass Arena’ that is willing to host the bout at the highest level! Alexandr Atamanenko, the general chief of the stadium, emphasized that Donetsk not only was willing to hold the bout but to be the co-organizer of it. The main condition announced by ‘Donbass Arena’ authorities was reasonable price policy: “If we are going to establish the European price for tickets, then I’m not sure that we would be able to have a sold out. We don’t want to see half-empty stands of the stadium, and we want to cheer our sportsman properly!”
Rhombuses, Circles and…
Donetsk and Kharkov, the EURO 2012 host-cities, last week revealed their “image conceptions”, in other words, logotypes and slogans. So, Donets presented itself as the city full of contrasts and that is able to unite “industry with roses, football with ballet, carbon with salt, modern architecture with orthodox cathedrals.” This integration of contradictions also is reflected in slogan that goes “Strength and beauty” and in logotype that depict… black rhombus and red circles. Authors want to hint at “carbon and roses”.
In addition, Kharkov decided to depict green cross. Authors offered to guess the intricate meaning of the symbol by yourself. However, they hinted some variants: crossroads, the first letter of the city’s name, flexibility, willingness to the cooperation (how could we see this?), arms up welcoming the guests of the city, etc. Nevertheless, it’s not so important the image on the flag as the ongoing situation beneath it.
Croatia Also Prefers Donetsk
Maybe following the Portugal team pattern, Croatia national team decided not to rush with EURO 2012 training camp selecting. According to Zorislav Srebrić, the General Secretary of the Croatian Football Federation, they will decide the training facility after the draw ceremony of the 2012 European championship final phase. However, they already have two priorities: the first is in Poland, it’s Krakow, which was highly praised by Netherlands, England and Italy, and the second is in Ukraine, it’s Donetsk. Zorislav Srebrić doesn’t mind the fact that Donetsk is the most distant city from the Poland (and it’s 50/50 that Croatian team will play there): “Anyway we will travel by plane and the Donetsk training camp is the ideal one!”
Don’t Miss the Draw!
Friday, 18:00 CET in Kiev takes place the draw ceremony of the EURO 2012 final phase. Don’t miss the TV broadcasting! However, you can miss it. We will definitely publish the results!
