M. Platini’s satisfied with Poland’s preparation to host Euro-2012

Having finished his inspection trip to both the host-countries of Europe Championship final 2012, UEFA President stated that Poland’s preparation to host the final is going with normal pace. M. Platini came from Kiev to Warsaw for two days where he claimed he noticed no serious problems in Poland. While in Ukraine, UEFA President expressed his confidence that the former Soviet republic will cope with all its hardships and meet the deadline.

Both the countries dropped seriously behind with starting construction of stadiums, hotels, highways and the rest of infrastructure for Euro-2012. Europe goes on with its prejudice that Ukraine and Poland aren’t capable to organize the Championship at a worthy level. However Mr. Platini continues expressing his full confidence and support for both these countries.

Wroclaw signed contract to build stadium for Euro-2012

Wroclaw municipal government’s signed agreement to build stadium for hosting Europe Football Championship matches of 2012, which is being jointly organized by Poland and Ukraine.

As TVN 24 reports, the stadium costing $ 220 mln is going to be erected by Polish and Greek consortium with Mostostal Warszawa SA Company in the head.
In accordance with the contract, consortium pledged to construct the stadium in 21 months and gave 25-year term guarantee for the stadium’s cover and front, and also 10-year guarantee for other materials.

The contractors started their work on Tuesday right after signing contract.
UNIAN informs that Wroclaw authorities decided to allocate additionally about $ 70 mln for the stadium erection after it appeared that participants of the bids, held by the city asked for their service far more money than it was previewed by the local government.

UNIAN information: Wroclaw is one of the 4 main cities in Poland to host Euro-2012 matches.

According to the stadium design in Wroclaw which is planned to be built in 14 hectares territory, it’ll seat 44.000 fans. Besides casino, disco, restaurant for 1600 visitors and office-conference facility will operate at the stadium’s territory.

In December, 2008 clean up activities before stadium erection were finished. The heading work was conducted by Wakoz Company, owing to which major building works had to begin in January 2009, as scheduled.

Gdansk and Wroclaw have defined stadium construction executors

In Gdansk, Poland where Europe Football Championship matches of 2012 will be held, the agreement on Baltic Arena stadium construction has been signed. Construction cost will make $ 150 mln, Рolskieradio informs.

A consortium of Polish and German firms such as Hydrobudowa Polska S.a., Hydrobudowa 9, Alpine Bau Deutschland AG Berlin, Alpine Bau GMBH Austria and Alpine Construction Polska is the general executor of the project.

The companies have wide experience in sports objects construction. Hydrobudowa is engaged in reconstructing Lech stadium in Poznan, and Allianz Arena stadium in Munich was erected by Alpine Bau Company.

The Gdansk stadium will seat 44 thousand spectators. Baltic Arena is to be commissioned in December, 2010.

Wroclaw has also signed the agreement on stadium construction for Euro-2012. The Greek consortium under the guidance of Polish firm of Mostostal S.A. will construct the football arena within 21 month period.

Earlier the Polish city of Gdansk expressed desire to have toss-up for Euro-2012 tournament selection.

Poland’s going to satisfy religious needs of Euro-2012 fans

During Europe Football Championship final 2012 every stadium in Poland’s going to be equipped with prayer spots for followers of world leading religions. This was claimed by Edward Plenj, Polish priest appointed by Roman Catholic Church responsible for fans relations at the Championship.

E. Plenj highlights that Catholic volunteers are going to give out religious leaflets and tell the fans about Polish Catholicism.

We remind that at its meeting in Copenhagen UEFA Executive Committee’s positively assessed Euro-2012 organization in Poland and Ukraine. Championship transfer issue’s been removed from the agenda.

Gdansk chose second stage winner of stadium construction for Euro-2012

Polish-German-Austrian firms syndicate’s won the bids for holding the next stage of stadium construction works in Gdansk. Mayor of Gdansk Pavel Adamowich signed the corresponding report of qualification commission. According to Mikhal Krushinsky, the Association official and Euro-2012 organizer in Gdansk (BIEG 2012), each of these companies has significant amount of work experience in this domain. In particular, Alpine Bau erected famous “Alianz Arena” in Munich. Investment in stadium construction in Gdansk will make 521 mln zlotys (about US $ 160 mln).

At the same time other six firms - bids participants will be provided with 10 days to appeal against contest terms fulfillment. BIEG 2012 representatives expect second stage of stadium construction to begin in the end of April - early May 2009.

Erection of arena in Gdansk is to be finished by the end of 2010. It’s expected that stadium will seat 44.000 spectators, including 1.5 000 V.I.P. seats. The stadium will be 227 m long, 194 m wide and its height will reach 45 m. Its territory will cover 34 hectares. According to design documents, 1.8 000 cars and 160 buses or trucks can be located at the parking lot by the stadium.
