Hyundai high-speed trains, which were named “Ukrainian express”, will be launched to unite EURO 2012 host-cities in the middle of May, 2012, according to Vice Prime Minister – Minister of Infrastructure, Boris Kolesnikov.
“High-speed trains that can accelerate till 180 kilometers per hour will unite four Ukrainian EURO 2012 host cities. Their launch is scheduled on May 15,” tells the official, which is responsible for Ukraine’s preparation for the tournament. Also he said that starting May 1, the tickets for “Ukrainian express” will be available via Internet in every European country.
Therefore, new high-speed trains will facilitate and accelerate considerably the fans’ transportation between Kiev, Kharkov, Donetsk and Lviv, host-cities of the upcoming European championship. For example, distance between Lviv and Donetsk will reduce to 11 hours (today is 22), Kiev and Kharkov will be covered in 3.5 hours, Kiev-Lviv – in 4.5 hours and Kiev-Donetsk – in 5.5 hours.
Hyundai trains, which will unite Ukrainian cities hosting EURO 2012 by railway, will be presented in South Korea in late December. By the way, Ukrainian railway has ordered ten trains that consist of nine coaches; however, only six will be delivered in February or March, 2012 and will be launched in the middle of May.
The tickets cost for “Ukrainian express” isn’t announced yet. Nevertheless, according to Donetsk Mayor city’s public transport will be charge-free for foreign fans because UEFA will cover all the expanses. He tells that foreign fans will use their tickets for football matches as the travel document in the Donetsk tramways and trolleybuses.
Moreover, Donetsk mayor emphasizes that supporters with tickets for EURO 2012 matches after arriving to Donetsk will be transferred charge-free to the hotel. “This service called to facilitate staying of championship’s guest in the city, and supporters won’t have an urgent necessity to buy local currency,” stresses out the Donetsk Mayor.
Kharkov, other host-city, also settles issue of the EURO 212 guests’ transportation. “Even now we are ready to launch trolleybuses every two minutes from the international airport to the “Metalist Stadium” and fan zone. This schedule will be strict. In addition, we won’t have any problems while transporting supporters from fan area to the stadium before the football match,” claims Evgeniy Fedorchuk, official of the Kharkov transport and communication department. He mentions that not only fixed route taxi (marshrutki) will occupy with fans transportation, but so-called shuttle-buses. “They will run on the routs defined by UEFA. So for now, we haven’t any difficulties connected to transport and its organization,” said the functionary.
