To vary the leisure activities of foreign football fans coming to Ukraine for the final part of European championship, and at the same time to acquaint them with original Ukrainian culture and rich national traditions, during the whole June 15 ethnic festivals will be carried out on the territory of outdoor Museum of Pyrohiv village not far from Kiev.
The main of them is expected to be the festival of Ukrainian cuisine, where the most famous dishes of unique national Ukrainian cuisine will be represented. For that purpose the distinguished cooks and culinary experts will be invited to Pyrohiv from different corners of the country - Crimea, Carpathians, Odessa, Lviv and others. Among the other festivals, planned by the organizers to demonstrate the uncommon ethnic and cultural heritage of Ukraine to the foreign guests, are the ancient toy holiday and the Cossack tradition festival.
"We receive numerous offers of ethnic holiday organization from different agencies, - tells Dmitry Zaruba, the Director of National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life in Pyrihiv. - Now we are elaborating a detailed program for the period of Euro 2012 - from June 8 till July 2, where up to 15 festivals in different subjects are scheduled. They will be daylong in full-time capacity".
At the present time the management of the Skansen decides how to make the visits of the championship's guests more comfortable. In particular, they plan to restore by the summer the objects which need emergency repairs, to improve the transportation to the outdoor museum, organize Wi-Fi zones on its territory and to organize a kitchen. According to Dmitry Zaruba, by the beginning of the tournament the Museum of Folk Architecture and Life in Pyrohiv will turn into an affordable museum with inexpensive and quality service for open air festivities. "During the period of Euro 2012 we are expecting not less than 15 thousand guests", - he told.
The organizers also note, that during the championship the admission tickets for the museum and festivals will not rise in price, moreover the price will stay unchanged for all the guests without exception - now it is 20 UAH (about 2 EUROs).
Also worth noting is that the Museum of Folk Architecture and Life in Pyrihiv, occupying the territory of more than 150 hectares, is considered one of the largest Skansens of the world. But it attracts not only with its size, but also with uniqueness of its exhibits, which number more than 300 items.
The territory of museum is divided into six estates, each reflecting the landscape, folk architecture and village way of life of different Ukrainian regions. That's why excursion round the Skansen reminds a journey through time and space: during only one day you can visit different ethnographic regions of the country and see how the Ukrainians used to live in XVII - XX centuries. Various festivals will make the visit to museum even more impressive and will let acquaint the cultural traditions of Ukrainians in lively, enthralling form.
